“Research”

I do not go on a date without doing some research. In fact, sometimes I don’t even bother responding to someone before doing some research.

Most of the time, things are on the internet because it was the subject’s choice to put them there. LinkedIn, social media platforms, that sort of thing. Every once in a while you might even be lucky enough to stumble upon a blog. And yes, I am aware that a ‘dating researcher’ would have a field day with a quick google search of my name. And, you know what? I don’t think that there’s anything here that I would feel odd about them seeing. Slicing is just an honest account into my daily thoughts and existence.

That was less-so the case of a blog of a man I happened upon today.

He actually told me himself that he kept a ‘travel blog’. It would have been crazy if we (it’s always a ‘we’, let’s be honest) did not track down said blog. It took about 30 seconds. Another 40 seconds later we’d discovered that he did not only blog about traveling. In fact, this blog gave me quite a holistic picture into this man’s political beliefs. And, let’s just say, they do not align with my own.

Today, conflicting political beliefs is more than enough for me to not meet a man in real life. Of course I wish that this wasn’t the reality and it wasn’t all so polarizing, but it is.

And it would be silly for me to not use the information that the internet so easily supplies.
